SuperBorders aren’t just another marketing term—they represent Border Leicester rams ranked by LAMBPLAN as above the 50th percentile for the breed using the BLX (Border Leicester Cross) Index. The cut off is determined after the 15th of August each year.
Meaning every SuperBorder eligible ram delivers measurable genetic above average for first-cross production systems.
The BLX Index combines multiple ASBVs into one over all score, the index. It accounts for the ram’s contribution to lamb growth (50% attribution to first-cross progeny, 25% to second-cross), maternal weaning weight improvements, birth weight, growth, fat depth and fertility gains. Think of it as your ram’s earning potential translated into hard numbers.
